Joining RDA Hamilton
Joining the Program
The current team of coaches at RDA Hamilton have a strong focus on developing riding and horsemanship skills, and self-confidence in all our participants. Riders gradually progress to independent riding in lessons which include time to practice skills, lots of games, and trail riding in the beautiful natural surrounds of our Centre. The program caters for children (from schools or attending privately) and adults. An early intervention program for young children, coached one-on-one, is also available.
Our Centre ethos emphasises respect, always assumes ability and understanding in our riders, and aims to be an inclusive and welcoming place where happiness and achievement is the order of the day.
- Lesson Fees: Lessons are at no cost for riders under the age of 18. Lessons for adult riders are $15 per lesson.
- Length of lessons: 45 minutes
- Weight restrictions: 90kg
- Waiting list: 1 year
Volunteering
Hamilton Centre always welcomes new volunteers. Whether or not you have previous experience with horses, and no matter what skills or interests you bring, we will find a role for you! If you love horses and working with people, that’s great, but also, it is often not recognised that such a vast array of different tasks are essential to keeping aRDA running well so that participants are able to get the most out of our programs, and that many of these do not involve physical work with horses. We have one riding day per week during the second and fourth school terms, offer regular and varied training opportunities for volunteers and enjoy opportunities to socialise, including sharing afternoon tea after riding has finished for the day!
