Benny was found, when an alert woman who had heard reports of the two stolen ponies, noticed a pony in a paddock that was generally empty. She notified police, who quickly returned him.

RDAV President Lesley Hewitt said, “We appreciate the outstanding community support and police assistance in finding Benny and we are still hoping to recover Bozo so would ask everyone be on the lookout for him.”

Bozo, the distinctively coloured Australian Riding Pony, is a liver chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail and two white socks. He stands at 12.3hh and is 22 years old. There have been no reports of his whereabouts.

2012 RDAV TRAIL RIDE

• Your fundraising of this annual event will support coaching people with a disability through RDAV programs.
•  A trail ride designed and planned by riders for riders.  Please note, we are sorry but the trails ARE NOT SUITABLE FOR HARNESS. 
• NO STALLIONS and NO DOGS PERMITTED.
• Join us for a wonderful 6 days, or just a few days if time does not   allow you to attend the full program.
• Magnificent riding in the beautiful Wombat State Forest, Trentham, Vic.
• Fabulous food FULLY CATERED for the week provided by Delishnish Catering of Riddells Creek
• Entertainment, fun and frivolity at nights including an auction of        donated goods, plus a raffle.
• Great fellowship for a very worthy cause

Saturday brought strong winds but this didn’t deter competitors or spectators. Councillor Rod Fyffe, Mayor of Greater Bendigo Shire, Mr Kevin O’Byrne, State Manager of Special Olympics Victoria and Vanessa Hawkins were on hand to present rosettes to the winners and place getters.

The Big 4 Holiday Park Showing Classes were crowd pleasers with the Champion Best Presented Horse and Rider going to Maddison Cooke and Monty. Champion Rider went to Elaina Newman, riding Lily, from RDA Harkaway.

The ESB Dressage events proved to be competitive. The Canter A was taken out by Renee Rowland, riding her lovely grey warmblood mare, Alaska. In second place was Thomas Dark, riding Banjo, 3rd Tori Faull on Monty and 4th Candice Hilton on the Egyptian Arabian Arden Park Izmashah. Thomas Dark won the Canter D Test closely followed by Candice Hilton and Tori Faull.

Trot B and Trot E tests were a happy hunting ground for Mickayla Prindable from Melton riding Blossom. She won both on scores of 77.14% and 77.85% respectively. Liam Richardson, winner of the RMB Metalworks Encouragement Award, was in 2nd and 3rd place,. Jack Futter, from Bendigo, tied with Liam for 2nd in the Championship. Ashleigh Williams, from Bendigo, was third in the Trot B and Maddison Cooke fourth in the Trot E. Leanna Hendrickson, riding the beautiful Shennandoah Kiarna, was very close behind the placegetters.

The Walk Tests were won by Elaina Newman (Harkaway), Gemma Mae Stemp (Melton) and Amber Jepson (Daylesford). Amber Jepson, riding the sweet little grey pony Casy, took out the Championship.

The Para Equestrian Classes were small but allowed us to see our paralympic hopefuls in action. Nicole Blanks stunned spectators with her Grade IV Tests on MC Kiara.

Marion McKenzie made a return to the classified ranks with crowd pleasing Grade III tests on the bay thoroughbred Stashes.. Madeleine Sobb rode Apache in the 1b Tests on the flashy chestnut pony with scores of 60% and 63% respectively, taking out both the Team and Championships Tests and the Championship.

Sunday’s weather proved much kinder, with blue skies and, importantly, no wind. The Stables Showjumping Events was used as a mini Coaches Workshop, with Judge Sally Francis. Sally talked coaches through course building, warm up techniques, show jumping etiquette and jumping equitation. Ryan Templeton from Maryborough won the D grade riding the appropriately named Nipper. Tori Faull won the C and B grade riding the chestnut thoroughbred Monty.

The McDonalds Plants Plus Carriage Driving Classes were judged by Ann Robertson from the Mornington Peninsula. RDA Bendigo’s Kyra Drummond drove her way into first place in the Driving Equitation. Letesha Drummond was second with Caleb Webb third and Alan Byrne fourth. Letesha reversed the placings in the Cones Precision Driving, with Kyra in second. Caleb Webb and Alan Byrne taking out the minor placings..
